Our Story

CJ

I first saw Connor on August 16th, 2016, the first day of freshman year. It was during our first orientation event after move in day and we were both looking to make some friends. Right after that event ended, a bunch of our new friends wanted to go to Steak and Shake for a late night snack. Connor and I took my car to the restaurant and the others all piled into a different car. When we got there the other group called us and told us they were lost and went home, so it ended up being just the two of us. We stayed there talking over milkshakes until close to 1 am. When it was time to go back to our new dorms, Connor went to walk me to my door to make sure I got home safe and we realized that we lived right across from each other.

From that point on we ended up doing everything together, both intentionally and unintentionally. We joined Greek Life, went to mixers and formals together, played video games, watched more movies than I can remember, and spent almost all of our free time together.

A few months into freshman year I asked Connor if we were dating and he replied “I thought we have been?” so I laughed and said “Okay, since when?” and he said “Since August 17th around 1 am.”

Since that moment, we have been nearly inseparable and we’ve had countless adventures. We went to NYC to see Wicked on Broadway in 2017, went with his family to France, Italy, and England in 2018, went hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains (and almost got eaten by a bear) in 2019, and went on a cruise to Mexico, Honduras, and Belize in 2020 (pre-pandemic). There’s no one else in the universe I’d rather see the world with.

The things I love about Connor are endless, and I hope our adventures together will be just that: endless.

CJ and I met the very first day of college. We actually passed each other on the stairs to our building, where my dad would go on to point her out as the cute girl across the hall. We met each other for real that evening at a freshman welcome event and get our first picture together taken. We finished off the night by going to Steak and Shake where (after they brought me a peanut butter shake instead of vanilla -bleh) she told me all about her goals and her interests, and where I either babbled about nonsense or was too nervous and shy to contribute meaningfully to the conversation.

Despite my awkwardness that first night out CJ still seemed to want to talk to me and the rest is history. Since that first day of school we have been through so much together. We have travelled all over together, from New York City Broadway shows to family vacation in Europe, to a Latin American cruise. We were heavily involved with Greek Life, eventually both becoming president of our organizations at the same time. During the summers when we were in different states we would FaceTime every day for hours and visit each other as many weekends as we could.

When the pandemic hit in our final semester of school we had the unique opportunity to move up to Maryland early and get our first apartment together. Since then we have added our puppy Lincoln to our family. The night of December 31st 2020, I proposed to CJ in a candy cane light forest and we officially began the next chapter of our lives ringing in the New Year.

My parents got me in October of 2020! (I’m a pandemic puppy!) I couldn’t be happier that they are getting married (mostly because they really needed an activity to plan, I’m tired of watching them play video games all the time).
